Savannah prides itself with providing highly personalized support for every step of product development. Whether it is prototyping or reverse engineering, our programmers and machinists keep an open line of communication with our customers to guarantee high quality, precision parts.

As many design engineers know prototyping is a critical aspect to the product development process. It allows for a complete review of the fit, form, function and material properties. One aspect that is often overlooked is a critical review of the manufacturing processes and tolerances.  One of the downsides of low cost country sourcing is that these manufacturing process reviews are often difficult with language and time differences.  The design – upon finalizing – bakes in the production costs.  If a process review is not completed you can be assured that extra costs are incorporated into the design.

As Savannah Precision Machining, we strongly encourage a review of the processes and cost drivers.  There are ways to aggregate volumes, use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD and T) as well as optimizing the finishing requirements to get the best value for every part design.  Our machining experts are willing to be part of the development team – as result everyone wins!
